Made with Earl Grey tea, you add your steamed milk of choice and vanilla syrup to make a deliciously warm and foggy drink that you’ll want to sip with your pinky in the air.
Of course, we gotta add caffeine to all things, and that’s exactly what happens in a Dirty London Fog Latte, making it the perfect tea-infused drink for a coffee person!
Otherwise known as London Smog, this drink mixes tea and espresso to make a complex and delicious flavor profile that will warm you up and caffeinate you even on the dreariest day.
What You’ll Need
- 1 Earl Grey Tea Bag
- 1-2 Shots of Espresso
- 1 Tsp of Torani Vanilla Syrup or sweetener of choice
- Creamer of Choice (i.e. Half & Half, Oat Milk, etc)
How To Make a Dirty London Fog Latte
Making a Dirty London Fog isn’t that difficult, but does have a few steps. You’ll need to steep the tea first to get a tea concentrate and then pull shots of espresso while the tea brews.
Step 1:
Steep one tea bag of Earl Grey tea with about 1/4 cup of water at 208 C, or just before boiling. Let sit for 5-8 minutes.
Step 2:
While the tea steeps, prepare two shots of espresso.
Step 3:
Remove the tea bag and add one teaspoon of vanilla syrup and the two shots of espresso to the tea, stirring to combine.
Step 4:
Heat and froth your creamer of choice (I enjoy almond milk for this one) and pour on top. Enjoy your Dirty London Fog!

Substitutions
If you need a dairy-free option, you can always use your choice of alternative creamers. I enjoy almond milk, but oat and soy are also both great alternatives.
Hazelnut flavoring can be a fun switch up from the classic vanilla flavoring. Lavender also gives this drink a delicious floral element that can be quite delicious.
If you’re curious about making this but don’t have an espresso machine, you can always use 6 oz of strongly brewed coffee instead of espresso. We suggest brewing in an immersion brewer, such as a French Press or Moka Pot.
If you happen to be low or out of Earl Grey tea, you can try other black teas such as English Breakfast. There really are so many fun ways to play around with this recipe – the combinations are endless!
