The term “vanilla” is often used to describe something that’s particularly boring or uninteresting, but we think that’s a shame. Vanilla, while common, is anything but boring!
The spice, whose name is translated as “little pod,” comes from orchids, and is used in all sorts of recipes, from desserts to perfumes. The delicious vanilla flavor and aroma we’ve all come to know is a classic, and we most definitely wouldn’t want to go without it.
Besides, no vanilla would mean no vanilla bean frappuccino, and that’s definitely not a drink worth sacrificing!
ABOUT THIS DRINK
A frappuccino is Starbucks Coffee’s trademarked term for the company’s line of blended drinks. What makes the vanilla bean frappuccino stand out, however, is that despite being on the menu of an international coffeehouse chain, the drink doesn’t contain any coffee at all!
Though you can order the drink with coffee added, the original recipe leaves it out. Think of it like a milkshake.
And on the days when you crave something sweet but have no desire to stand in a long line at the coffee shop or fork over five bucks for a drink, you can make your own copycat Starbucks vanilla bean frappuccino at home. It’s easy to make, and even easier to enjoy.

The last step is optional, but we wouldn’t dare skip it! Top the drink off with a nice, hearty dollop of whipped cream, and you’re finished!

ENJOY!
No, a vanilla bean frappuccino won’t give you the same caffeine boost a coffee drink would, but it just might give you a decent sugar rush, and that temporary jolt of energy can be just as good — just watch out for the crash!
And if you love coffee too much to give it up, even for one drink, pour a shot of hot espresso over the frappuccino and enjoy it affogato-style.
Happy Caffeinating!
