Differences Between the Jura Z8 vs Z10
Brewing
The Jura Z8 and Z10 are both ideal automatic coffee machines for anyone who loves variety. The Jura Z8 brews an impressive 21 beverages, but the Z10 blows that out of the water with 32 specialty drink options.
If you’re thinking that you can’t even name 32 beverages, here’s the secret: the Jura Z10 can brew cold specialty drinks as well as hot ones.
This is a game-changer for cold beverage lovers- there’s very little left at your corner coffee shop that the Jura Z10 can’t make!
Features
One major feature upgrade in the Jura Z10 is its grinder. The Z10 is equipped with a Product Recognizing Grinder. This means that depending on what type of beverage the user selects, the grinder adjusts and automatically grinds the coffee to the fineness that will give suit that beverage best.
Coffee lovers know that the grind level of the coffee has a huge impact on the final brew, so this is a big feature.
Home baristas (like myself) who don’t have the time or expertise to fine-tune a perfect brew can turn just about every element over to Jura, including the grind sizes.
Similarities
Brewing
Cold beverages aside, there is a lot of overlap in the brewing capabilities of the Jura Z8 and Jura Z10. Both have dual spouts, allowing for two beverages to be brewed at once.
They also are capable of brewing a whole pot of coffee, which is an especially nice feature for hosting or for large households.
The Jura Z8 and Jura Z10 also both have a bypass chute for pre-ground coffee. With high-quality built-in grinders at the ready to grind your coffee beans the moment before they’re brewed, pre-ground coffee is probably not the first thing on your mind. However, this can be useful for occasional decaf brews.
Features
A few features that help craft a perfect shot of espresso are present in both the Z8 and Z10.
As you can expect on any Jura machine at this level, both are equipped with P.E.P. (Pulse Extraction Process) which is a process designed to guarantee that the hot water is in contact with the ground coffee for the ideal amount of time.
They are also both Wifi-compatible and can be operated through Jura’s J.O.E. app.
Design
Both the Jura Z8 and Jura Z10 feature an 81-ounce water reservoir and a 10-ounce bean container. They also each have coffee grounds containers designed to hold 20 servings of grounds before being emptied. All of these features make these machines excellent for larger households.
These automatic espresso makers also both have height- and width-adjustable coffee spouts, making it easier to fit any type of cup or mug you’d like to use.
The maximum height for both is 6 inches, so you can measure your favorite travel mug accordingly.
Overview of the Jura Z8
The now-discontinued Jura Z8 is a high-quality super-automatic espresso maker with a wide range of features and capabilities. It has 21 brew settings, including a wide variety of espresso-based drinks with and without milk. It can even brew a full jug of coffee to accommodate larger groups.
This machine can be operated using its 4.3-inch color touch screen, a rotary dial on the top, or Jura’s J.O.E. app for smartphones.
A multi-level AromaG3 grinder and Pulse Extraction Process brewing system work together to grind the coffee right before brewing and then extract the best possible flavor from it.
Overview of the Jura Z10
The Jura Z10 has all of the great features of the Z8, but it takes home baristas to a new level with the ability to “cold brew” beverages. The added cold brew options bring the menu on the Jura Z10 to 32 items.
To operate the Jura Z10, you can turn to a 4.3-inch color touch screen, rotary dial, or the J.O.E. app. Wifi Smart Connect comes standard with this machine, rather than being purchased separately as it has been on other models.
The Z10’s Product Recognizing Grinder helps brew the perfect cup of coffee by grinding the coffee automatically to the ideal fineness.
Takeaways
The Jura Z8 has been discontinued and replaced by the Jura Z10, but coffee fans shouldn’t despair. The Z10 offers everything the Z8 did, but adds a more advanced grinder and the ability to brew cold beverages.
That said, the many features of the Z10 come with a hefty price tag. If you’re looking for a less expensive machine, consider another machine in Jura’s lineup or a more entry-level espresso maker.
Happy Caffeinating!
